Frank Chen

Frank Chen was born Auckland and started playing the piano at the age of eight. He has recently completed his honours year in classical performance at the University of Auckland and will be completing a master’s degree in 2019. His teachers there include Richard Liu and Stephen De Pledge. Musical career highlights so far are the 50th and 51st Christchurch Concerto Competition, IRMT Auckland’s Margaret Doone Sonata Competition, the North Shore Competitions and the Wallace National Competition. Frank has also developed a huge interest in Chamber music and accompanying and would love to do more of this in the future. His intends to pursue a career as a performer and teacher in order to help people and to communicate his love of music with others.
