Hyein Kim

Age: 20 born Seoul / lives Hamilton

Hyein is currently a third year soloist stream student at the University of Waikato. At 13, he was awarded 1st prize at the International Padova Competition and played with the Padova Symphony Orchestra as a finalist in that competition. He was awarded 2nd prize in the 2017 PACANZ competition, the Most Promising Cellist prize at the inaugural Wallace International Cello Competition and 2nd prize in the 50th New Zealand National Concerto Competition, playing the Dvor?a?k cello concerto with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Hyein was awarded both the Most Promising Player Award and the Antonio Strings New Zealand String Player Award at the 2018 Gisborne International Music Competition.
