Eli HolmesEli Holmes is a 21 year-old bassoonist and writer based in Wellington. After leaving Dunedin at age four, Eli grew up among the cows in upstate New York. After studying at the Juilliard School throughout high school his studies took him to Boston, where he was completing the third year of a B.A. in Philosophy and Musicology at Harvard while concurrently working towards his M.M. at the New England Conservatory of Music when the pandemic drove him back to New Zealand. He is the grand prize winner of the Leitzinger International Bassoon Competition and was the woodwind winner of the PepsiCo Young Artist of the Year award. His major teachers are Richard Svoboda and Marc Goldberg.
