Grace McKenzie

Grace McKenzie is in her honours (final) year at the University of Auckland, having gained her Bachelor of Music in performance violin at the end of 2019. Originally learning through the Suzuki method, Grace has been learning from her current teacher, Stephen Larsen, for 10 years. A music scholar at Rangi Ruru Girls School in Christchurch, Grace reached the finals of the NZCT Chamber Music Competition for two consecutive years, as a violinist and pianist. Grace has a particular interest in chamber music, and had the opportunity to participate in the Castleman Quartet Programme in Buffalo, New York. As the ‘Felice Duet’, Grace and her colleague KiHei Lee were recently awarded the ROSL Pettman Scholarship to attend lessons and festivals for 3 weeks in the UK (postponed to 2021 due to Covid19). Orchestrally, Grace has performed as the Associate Concertmaster of the NZSO National Youth Orchestra in 2018.
