Benedict van LeuvenBen began playing Clarinet in 2012, and studies with David Thomas and Mary Scott. Ben was planning to commence his Bachelor's degree at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, but due to COVID-19 this was made impossible.
Ben was awarded his LTCL in Clarinet performance with Distinction in 2018.
He is currently principal Clarinet in the Wellington youth Orchestra, and has was previously principal Clarinet in the New Zealand secondary schools Symphony Orchestra, and 2nd Clarinet in the NZSO National youth Orchestra. With his trio, he was a finalist in the NZCT National Chamber music contest in both 2018 and 2019, wining the people's choice award and the KBB award for the best ensemble with a Wind, Brass or Percussion instrument.
