Lucas Baker

Lucas started learning violin with Lynley Culliford at age three. He is studying classical violin performance at the New Zealand School of Music with Helene Pohl.

In 2017, Lucas gained a NZMEB Diploma (AMusNZ) with distinction and joined NYO. From 2013 he has been involved with WYOs, and WYO Concertmaster since 2018. Since 2019, he has been a casual player for Orchestra Wellington.

Lucas is privileged to be playing on a Pressenda violin belonging to the late violinist, Stephen Managh, who wanted it to be played by New Zealand’s most promising young violinists, to assist them in their musical careers.
